“Based on James Agee’s autobiographical, Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece ‘A Death in the Family’, this moving and innovative new musical reunites the dynamic Tony Award-winning creative team behind ‘Ragtime’. The story begins as an adult Agee struggles to write his greatest work about the event that touched his young life and the effect it had on his family and his future. ‘Knoxville’ is a universal coming-of-age story about family, faith, and love—and about the boy who will grow up to write it. With a sweeping musical score and brilliant cast, this is a must-see event. ”

Twice in my life, I have been praised in person by a famous Broadway composer (I have only ever met two broadway composers). In 1996 while designing and mixing an early version of Snapshots at the Virginia Stage Company, Stephen Schwartz came to me at the mix position after the show and exclaimed “The sound was phenomenal”. Best comment of my life… until this production. Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens were both involved in our production of Knoxville, having done some rewrites specifically for it. They were such a joy to work with, and boy, such beautiful work. It was an incredible experience listening to this show every day. Stephen and Lynn both said such kind words to me throughout the process. Lynn was particularly thrilled that I had balled my eyes out at the designer run. She had done her job! Opening night Stephen came to the mix position specifically to tell me and my associate Allison that he thought the show sounded beautiful. What an incredible treat.

Audio clips of the live mix are not included due to Actor’s Equity restrictions, and live recordings do not accurately represent the theatre space.
Please check with the producing organization if interested in quality of the mix, which I proudly stand behind.
