What happens when YouTube’s most famous, energetic, always-positive star meets the apocalypse?
Four Utah playwrights began writing 10-minute audio plays for ages 12+ on April 16, 2020. Then, on April 24, four creative teams were randomly created. Each team rehearsed virtually, recording all of the components in isolation by April 29, and then edited and finalized their pieces with sound engineer David Evanoff on April 30 before being broadcast on KUAA 99.9 and Plan-B Theatre's free app May 5-8, 2020.
Review: Outstanding quartet of new short plays drive successful premiere of Plan-B Theatre’s Radio Slam...Kokai’s script frames the scene in an apocalyptic pandemic, even far more dire and dystopic than the actual crisis billions of humans currently are experiencing. Joe Payne’s sound design rounds out the crescendo of surreal dread—the right accompaniment to poor Lola who is oblivious to the fact that her new normal is barren, frightening and largely devoid of human presence. - Les Roka, The Utah Review Article Link
